Uduppi coffee

Having a cup of coffee is always refreshing. Having a hot sweet milky dark filter coffee with a little bitterness, froth and pleasant aroma in the early morning at Uduppi hotel of Pudupatti, Ponnamaravathi is exciting and enjoyable. It’s name here is usually ‘Kaappi’ and is being served for years together since beginning in ‘Vattaa cup’, a combination of vertically deep saucer and  tumbler made up of stainless steel. I have seen these sets made up of brass in olden days, called ‘Dabara sets’.

One can get coffee of ones own choice at any time here. Parcel coffee is sent in pre heated vattaa cup technically by pouring the coffee in the tumbler, inverting upside down on the so called saucer without spilling even a drop.

No spoon is used here either by the maker or the customer. No stirring; only mixing. I can’t forget the Rengaiyyer style of Uduppi coffee. I can’t forget his shouting Vattaa Cup………., which is nothing but the demand of washed cups and saucers to serve hot coffee during the peak hours, from his employee washer –up.

Mr. Ramakrishnan, my friend cum classmate, is capable of preparing the same style coffee by maintaining its quality at every step of making, adhering to stringent quality control measures.

I can’t think of having any other coffee whenever I stay at and around Pon. Puduppatti (Pudupatti, India).

Uduppi at Pudupatti

The chefs at the spacious restaurant, Uduppi Shree Krishna Bhavan, Pon.pudupatti present their style of cooking at their best. The servers welcome you with smile. The food varieties make your taste buds tingling. No other restaurant in the vicinity is as popular as Uduppi Shree Krishna Bhavan. People call this restaurant as hotel with love and affection although there is no lodging facility available. Sincerity, honest, dedication, integrity, teamwork, cooperation, and friendliness of the team of owner and staff of this restaurant prove that there is no substitute in the entire district.

Rice, the staple food, when mashed and ground with lentils and spices become wonderfully delicious idlis, dosas, vadas, oottapams, etc. with spicy hot sambar and coconut chutney. A lot of different and popular meal varieties can be had with satisfaction. I have planned to provide interesting information and events about Uduppi Shree Krishna Bhavan, PON Puduppatti, Ponnamaravathi, Pudukkottai district, Tamilnadu, India, gradually in a phased manner.

The name of post office is Pudupatti. However people call it as PON.Puduppatti. Similarly, Ponnamaravathi is also sometimes written as Ponnamaravathy.
